Brijmohan Saxena is a big business Tycoon and wants his only grandson to settle down in the life and take-up ancestral business. But Vijay (Grandson) has his own idea about what he wants from life and doesn't heed the old man, who finally calls his friend Har-Charan Verma and his marriageable daughter Aarti to stay with them, in the hope of getting Vijay married to her.
Grand Father catches the late coming grandson one night and announces his decisions of marriage to Aarti and taking over of the business management from next day onwards. Vijay is against all these shackless and runs away from the house to Kashmir to meet and fall in love with Bena Mathur (Padmini) who is a tourist guide and is alone in the world. Vijay is unaware of the fact that his old college friend Kamal (Arun Govil) is already in love with her.
Kamal seeing the intensity of Vijay's love for Sona, draws back from the competition, leaving the field free for his friend. But Shekhar (Shakti Kapoor) a homicidal and sexual maniac, who already has the blood of a few girls on his hands and who has been sent by his father to the valley to be away from the Police investigation meets Sona and selecting her as his next victim is after her all the time. He tries to be free with her but Vijay arrives and beats him off and Shekhar becoming his mortal enemy gets a bomb planted in his car and as Vijay and Sona sit in it, the bomb gets off with a blast.
Vijay escapes with a broken leg and some minor injuries but Sona loses her eye sight and becomes blind. Taking herself to be a useless burden for Vijay now, she tries to change his attitude towards her by enacting a love scene with a reluctant Kamal.
Vijay overhears and is angry and wanting to punish her for her betrayal, goes to her house but she is gone from there. In the meanwhile the Grand father arrives to take Vijay back to the waiting arms of Aarti and their marriage is fixed and announced.
